GEORGE WARD

Union City, MO

I was overweight as a kid and found a few friends when who helped me get outside and start living a more active lifestyle. At the age of 14, I lost my mother to mental illness and our family home, which was burned down. To cope with the pain and anger I found the gym and used that as my therapy.

After high school, I briefly fell into the grip of drug addiction, but my goal to have a certain physique helped me from ever going too far. I realized I was getting in too deep and joined the military to get away from the area that was bringing me down. I was lucky I joined and met the people I did because it brought up my quality of friends and the people, I surrounded myself with. One of my friends I met got me into the idea of bodybuilding. From there I decided one day I would pursue that after the military. Realizing how expensive it was, I need to first get a career that could support that lifestyle.

So after the military I started college and pursued a degree in Computer Science at MST and secured a Co-op at Intuitive Surgical while also pursuing my master's degree at Georgia Tech. I decided that my skills with a bachelors was enough to provide the life style I wanted and decided to start body building at the age of 30.

Finally, at the age of 30, I was financially stable enough to pursue bodybuilding seriously. Under the guidance of Quincy Roberts in Greensboro, NC, I embarked on a transformative journey.

Since starting 3 years ago, I competed in several regional and national shows. Some of my proudest moments include winning the overall title in Open Classic Physique and Open Bodybuilding at the NPC Warrior Classic. I also achieved significant recognition, placing 2nd in Classic Class B and 4th in Open Light Heavyweight at the 2023 Arnold Amateur.

This journey has been so rewarding for me, and I hope to continue doing this for as long as possible. I’m living my dream and doing what I love and have the support of a loving wife and two beautiful children to boot. My life couldn’t be more rewarding, and fitness has helped keep me working towards a path of self-betterment.

As I continue to chase my dreams and embrace the challenges life presents, I hope my story can inspire others to find their strength and pursue their passions, no matter the obstacles they face. The power to transform our lives lies within us, waiting to be unleashed with unyielding commitment and belief in oneself. With every challenge comes an opportunity for growth, and with every setback, a chance to come back stronger.

I am excited to see what the future holds and to inspire others to believe in the incredible potential that resides within each one of us. Let my journey be a reminder that no matter where life takes us, the power to shape our destiny is always in our hands. Together, we can embrace our struggles and overcome them, transcending adversity to create a life filled with purpose, passion, and fulfillment.
