ASHBURN, VA
As a child, I used to watch my uncle Rudy Fenner train clients in his basement, focusing on both strength training and cycling. He was one of the inaugural trainers at World Gym in Sterling, VA, so fitness was integral to his lifestyle and something he passed on to me. I learned to bench press in the 5th grade, and I quickly caught the bug. Calisthenics were also a huge part of my childhood, with push-ups and crunches before bed becoming a routine I lived by during elementary school.
As a high school football player and track sprinter, the weight room became essential to my athletic preparation and lifestyle. I learned Olympic lifts in the 10th grade, and to this day, the Hang Clean remains my favorite exercise. In college at Old Dominion University, despite not studying Kinesiology, I took Strength Training and Physical Conditioning as my elective classes. This experience started to shape my vision of a career in Sports Performance after graduation.
Since 2011, I've been coaching high school football, lacrosse, track, and basketball, taking on several roles in the weight room for each sport. Recently, I became the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams at Riverside High School in Leesburg, VA. I hold several certifications, including USA Weightlifting Level 2 Coach, EXOS Performance Specialist, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, and NSPA Speed & Agility Coach. I plan to take the NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist Exam in the near future and will use it to continue building A1 Performance, my sports performance company.
Fitness has given me confidence in my image and the ability to help others seeking positive change in their lives. I specialize in youth sports performance, addressing the growing problem of child obesity and combating health issues early on. The foundation is everything, and healthy, active children are the first step toward a better world.
