KARREN GERAGHTY

Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia

My fitness journey began after having my children. Initially, I lost all my pregnancy weight within two weeks, but over the next 12 months, I ballooned up to 100kgs, which was more than my full-term pregnancy weight. With four children to care for, it was easy to get complacent, hiding behind baggy clothes and not noticing just how much weight I had put on. The turning point came when my best friend asked me to be the godmother at her daughter’s christening. As I struggled to find an outfit that fit, realizing my size 16 clothes were too tight and I needed a size 18, a wave of emotions and determination hit me. I knew I had to take control; there was no way I was going to stay that big.

I started slowly. My joints were sore, and my feet hurt from carrying the extra weight. I focused on eating clean and taking short walks, which was all I could handle at first. Gradually, I lost my first 10kgs and began to feel much better. This small victory gave me the motivation to step into the gym, where I focused on a strength and cardio program. Staying committed and focused, I lost another 15kgs, transforming into a new person. I felt alive again, thriving in ways I hadn't imagined possible.

The profound changes and positive impacts on my life sparked an idea: what if I could help others achieve similar results, gain self-confidence, and learn to love themselves? This thought drove me to become a trainer. My goal was simple—if I could help just one person, it would be an incredible achievement. Over time, I've been fortunate to help many people reach their fitness goals, achieving things they never thought possible. Seeing their transformations fills my cup and warms my soul beyond words.

This year, I'm spreading my wings even further, setting new goals and pushing myself beyond what I thought I could do. I’m embarking on a journey to step on stage in bodybuilding competitions, aiming for the bikini or fitness divisions. The prospect excites and nerves me, but I can't wait to see what I can achieve and embrace the journey ahead.

Fitness has not only transformed my body but also my life. From being a mother struggling with weight to becoming a source of inspiration for others, this journey has been about rediscovering myself and my potential. I hope my story encourages others to take control, start their own journeys, and realize that with determination and consistency, anything is possible.
