"I’ve been into fitness for around 8 years now. Started off as a young pup going through the heart break diet, which lead to me feeling better about myself after losing a bit of weight, so I started to attend a local gym. I was soon addicted to how working out and eating right made me feel. I was doing my own thing, plodding along for a long time before I started attending classes and meeting people at the gym.
I loved seeing how far I could push myself mentally and physically and was approached by a PT at the gym, he could see how determined I was, so I signed up as his client and he really upped my game and helped me achieve some amazing results.
Skip forward a couple years and baby number 1 arrived. I was back up to my starting weight, heavy, unfit and no confidence. By this point I had moved house and couldn’t go to the gym anymore. So I decided to try and do something about it alone whilst at home with my baby. I purchased some healthy cook books and some weights and followed some workouts online as well as creating a few of my own that I knew would challenge me, all whilst my baby watched from his high hair or I could fit in a workout during his nap. I was surprised at how quickly my fitness levels built back up again.
I was determined to be healthy again, not only for my sake, but now for my son as well. I wanted to be the fun mum that would run around and be able to play with my kids. So I pushed myself and managed to get down to a stone lighter than my pre pregnancy weight and a dress size smaller! I was thrilled with my results, but more importantly I was fit, happy and confident. Then along came baby number two!
I was much wiser about my food choices during this pregnancy and knew I didn’t want to be in the same position I was after baby number 1. I still put on two stone with this pregnancy, which affected me mentally after baby 2 arrived. But I knew that I had done it before and I could do it again. So three months postpartum I started back on my journey of fitness. It started with HIIT workouts and intermittent fasting, but this wasn’t sustainable for me personally, so after three months of this I signed up to a plan that changed my life forever! I received a tailored to me meal plan and exclusive workouts, and I got to work. I’d never eaten so good or worked out as hard in all of my life.
It’s amazing what the body can do for you, it’s your head that needs the convincing.
Fast forward to a year down the line, I’m now the fittest, strongest, healthiest and most importantly happiest I’ve ever been in my life. Not just physically but mentally as well.
Exercise and making good food choices can change your life so much, you’ll never regret a workout! The hardest part is getting started, but once you get the fitness bug it just becomes so natural and a part of your life that you won’t want to give up. The key is to find something that interests you and keeps you motivated, but don’t get comfy, keep pushing yourself and set your own goals to keep you on track. The only thing stopping you from being the best version of yourself, is you."
